Do you wish there was a way to prepare for your upcoming dental appointment? If so, our Hines Dentistry has a tip for you! The more you know about the treatment process, the more prepared and relaxed you will feel in the hands of the dentist. So, today Dr. Drew Hines would like to tell you all about the treatment involved in placing a white filling. When you come into our office, you can expect the following steps:
–Step 1: Your dentist will begin treatment by numbing your tooth and surrounding gums with a local anesthetic. This will help prevent any pain. Next, your dentist will remove the decayed portion of your tooth with a special tool. This tool could either be a dental drill, air abrasion instrument, or laser, depending on the dentist’s preferences.
–Step 2: Next, your dentist will deeply and thoroughly clean the tooth, making sure there are no bacteria, debris, or particles present.
–Step 3: When the tooth is sparkly and clean, your dentist will begin filling the tooth with the composite filling. The filling will need to be placed in layers to provide stability and success. After each layer is placed, it will be hardened with a special light.
–Step 4: After the filling is placed and hardened, your dentist will trim and shape the top of the filling to make it fit perfectly with your bite and smile.
